The Las Olas Isles
Homeowners
Association (LOIHA) is
a voluntary association
of homeowners in the
Las Olas Isles
neighborhoods.
Founded in April 1980,
LOIHA today encompasses
approximately 300 eligible
households on Isle of Palms,
Royal Plaza, Coral Way, San
Marco Drive, Lido, Bontona
Avenue, Coconut Isle, Isle of
Capri, and Mola.
LOIHA provides a vehicle for our members to take
concerted action on matters that affect the enjoyment,
security, and value of our properties and our
neighborhoods; present a common voice to our city
leaders; and share information of common interest.
Over the years LOIHA has worked to enhance and
maintain the beauty of our neighborhoods and the East
Las Olas Blvd. corridor that borders us. LOIHA was
responsible for designing and erecting the lighted pillars
that identify our streets and frame our neighborhood
entryways from Las Olas.
We have been active in urging the City and FPL to move
forward with and to complete a long-awaited project to
bury the utilities on our streets under the
ground. More recently, we formed a committee
to coordinate with nearby neighborhood
associations and to work with the city to return
East Las Olas Blvd. to its former beauty before
the bridge reconstruction project on the north
side decimated the sidewalks, swale areas,
and medians.
One of our members’ most important interests is
the safety and security of our neighborhoods.
Since shortly after it was formed, LOIHA has
maintained a regular private security patrol to supplement
patrols by Fort Lauderdale police. Historically, a relatively
low number of crimes have been committed in our
neighborhoods, and for that we credit both our security
patrol and our neighbors looking out for each other.
LOIHA also has been active in advocating on our
members’ behalves on matters that affect our quality of
life, our properties, and our neighborhoods. For some time
we have been urging the city to resolve flooding problems
caused by the seasonal “King Tides,” including installing
tidal valves and raising the city’s seawalls that border our
neighborhoods. Recently, we successfully advocated for
the city to enact a new ordinance that regulates and
restricts short term vacation rentals in our neighborhoods.
LOIHA maintains a web site (www.loiha.org) to inform our
members about association happenings and to share
information of common interest. We hold an annual
association meeting in the Fall and a semi-annual meeting
in the Spring to which all members are invited. We also
regularly distribute information and updates to our
members via e-mail and U.S. mail.
LOIHA encourages all eligible homeowners to join and
become actively involved in our association. We are
blessed to live in a beautiful area of a wonderful city.
Together, we can make it even better!
