District 1 Commissioner

PROJECT UPDATES

Galleria Proposal:City Manager, City staff, and the applicant for Galleria met on
May 19, 2016, to discuss the revisions and progress to the project. The applicant
has reduced building heights below 30 stories, is expanding the innovative and
sustainable aspects of the project, and is examining the uniqueness of the
residential and retail uses. The remaining issue at this time is the traffic mitigation
plan to address impacts of the project. Staff continues to work with the applicant on
traffic impacts and mitigation. The applicant has indicated they wish to move
forward to the Planning and Zoning Board by end of summer. Staff will not
schedule the application for PZB until a traffic mitigation plan has been fully
reviewed by staff and the City’s consultant.

P-10914 New Fire Station #54:Pierce Goodwin Alexander & Linville, Inc. (PGAL)
continues with the design of the 10,336 sf building (2-bays, 2-story) facility. June
20, 2016, PGAL submitted the revised plans for Development Review Committee
(DRC) approval. The bidding for this project is expected in early fall, followed by
construction. The City’s legal staff is working with Bokampers on the final details to
finalize the land swap agreement.

Public Safety Communications System:The team of Fire, Police, Radio and IT last
met on May 27, 2016. ITS has finalized a draft for the Request for Letter of Interest
(RLI) for a 911 Communications Center consultant. Procurement and the City
Attorney’s Office are reviewing the final draft and at the conclusion of the review
the RLI will be posted on BidSync.

Police Body Worn Cameras Pilot Program:The Police Department incorporated the
Commission’s input and has reached a tentative agreement with the FOP on the
BWC pilot program’s draft policy. The Police Department has submitted the
mutually agreed upon draft policy to the City Attorney’s Office and the City
Manager’s Office for review. After receiving their feedback, input will be sought
from the CPRB and other external stakeholders. Florida House Bill 93 is now in
effect. The Body Worn Cameras and Digital Evidence Management System Request
for Proposal
packet has been sent to Purchasing for dispersal. The department
submitted an application to the Department of Justice for grant funding for body
worn cameras. On June 6, 2016, the department facilitated a body worn camera
technology informational session at City Hall courtesy of BodyWornTM.
