The Landings & Bay Colony
Mr. Renneisen,
I am a resident of Bay Colony writing in
response to your column in the Landings
news magazine, which raised the issue
of a "FLP Marine Patrol Unit."
Last month, I observed someone take a
picture of my home from their boat and
reported this to our Security Captain,
Steve Andrus, who is copied here for his
information.
By way of background, I am a former
state (NY) law enforcement officer,
currently a business owner and volunteer
Public Affairs Officer with the USCG
Auxiliary. I hold an MA in Criminal
Justice from John Jay College of Criminal
Justice with a specialization in police
administration. I also have volunteer
experience with two Auxiliary police
programs in New York, including the
Suffolk County Police Department's
program, where I was Deputy
Coordinator of the 1st Precinct's unit.
I am wondering if the city might be
interested in forming a Fort Lauderdale
Marine Auxiliary Patrol to protect our
waterways in our respective
neighborhoods. I would be happy to
assist the city/community with setting
such a program up that would offer a
way to effect a volunteer marine patrol
at little cost to the city to help protect our
community. If you would like to discuss
further please let me know.
I am also copying my neighbor Ken
Hollander who sits on the Bay Colony
Board for his information.
I
Regards,
James Lamb
