President’s Message
ope everyone’s summer is off to a good start. We get some great questions
about what’s going on in the neighborhood. I thought reprinting them here,
Htogether with my responses, might highlight some of the issues we face along
with potential solutions and obstacles. The questions and my responses have been
lightly edited for clarity.
Email rec’d: “CRCCEA, Thank you very much to the board for your leadership and
dedication to our community. It is a wonderful neighborhood to live in. The new
Clusia hedges along the fence from the Coral Ridge Mall look great. Having a
second sidewalk on Bayview Drive is wonderful. However, Haverty’s furniture store
needs to clean up the green lot next to their parking lot, it has had trash abandoned
against their fence for years. The bush in front of the lot should be removed from the
Tim Hernandez stump, constantly it’s getting trash laid in front of it. The association should plant a
President Clusia hedge along the fence of that green lot in order to see a solid green
landscape rather than the home behind the green empty lot.”

Tim Hernandez Tim I reached out to Haverty’s and relayed your concerns. Store Manager Raymond
Judy High Arrico called back the same day and we had a constructive conversation. I raised
Vicki Lynch the issue of the clusia hedge along the fence and better regular maintenance.
Raymond said he would look into these issues. He said they share responsibility for

the lot with Baers. He promised to discuss these issues with his corporate hierarchy,
Brian O’Connell as he told me has been at the store for less than six months and he does not want

we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. He even said he would go pick up the trash

himself. I told him it’s all about being a good neighbor to those who are impacted
Craig Singer by and in some cases patronize the store. It’s also an entry into our community. We
Jeff Stich
also discussed instances of homelessness on the property. Raymond says they have
“No Trespassing” signs posted in their windows and I asked that they also be
placed in the parking areas.
Email rec'd: “We should close access from all of the commercial lots entering our
neighborhood, especially those commercial properties currently renovated. After
CORAL R DGE Haverty and Baer’s Furniture, the street should be closed off (as) there is too much
COUNTRY CLUB ESTATES unwanted traffic on NE 37th Drive. In addition, more streets should be closed off.
C OMMUNIT Y ASSOCIA TION This will make our neighborhood safer. I have seen entire neighborhoods with
extremely busy streets closed off in neighborhoods such as North Highland Lakes
