County Commissioner's Update...continued
Census 2020 Update
Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court
decided to block a citizenship question
on next year’s Census 2020. Broward
County strongly supports this decision as
it will have large positive implications
for our community. As you may know,
the Census 2020 is an important step
taken every ten years across the country
that determines the distribution of
federal funding for programs assisting
our most vulnerable and our
representation in Congress and the state
legislature. These federal dollars
alleviate the need to supplement these
vital programs with local taxpayer
revenue. It is important that residents,
citizens and noncitizens alike feel
comfortable and participate in the
Census next year as your participation
has major implications on the services
that are provided by Broward County in
our community.
