Hello Neighbors,

Effective immediately, we are very pleased to welcome Sergeant Heather Lee as our new
HBI Detail Coordinator. We want to thank Ian Sandman for his service and wish him

Meet Sergeant Heather Lee:

(in her own words)
I have been with the Fort Lauderdale Police Department for 14 years. I was promoted
early in my career and therefore I have been a sergeant for nine of those years. I am
currently on the Lieutenants list with the hope of again being promoted.
Since the age of 10, I always dreamed of becoming a police officer. At that early age,
I met a police officer who made such a huge impression on me that I made up my mind I
wanted to be like her – to engage, help and protect the community. It took some time to make this dream a reality.

I graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School and then received a Bachelors degree in Political Science from St. Thomas
University in Miami. Upon graduating I became a paralegal in a Fort Lauderdale Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Firm.
During that time I had three children.
Fifteen years ago a friend encouraged me to do a ride-along with FLPD and my dream came alive once again. The rest is history.
I love what I do and enjoy giving back to my community as well as doing my part to keep it the safest and best place to live! HB
