RVCA President’s Message
Hi Neighbors,
am writing this in mid December shortly after our Holiday Party and last General
Meeting of the year. I am hoping that each and every one of you had a wonderful
I Holiday Season with your family and friends.
A huge thanks to all our residents and members for supporting our Holiday Party.
It was a great success and we look forward to continuing with events such as this,
bringing our neighborhood together and creating relationships.
The theme of our December meeting was “Traffic in the Neighborhood” and Milos
Lori Sterling Majstorovic, Deputy Director for Transportation and Mobility, spoke on topics of
concern. We also had a project manager from the tunnel project, Eric Pineres, who
gave us an update and a projected completion date. Our usual guests, Community
RVCA OFFICERS Patrol Officers, our very own Sergeant Wright and our code enforcement officer, Gus
President Caracas, all contributed to lots of lively conversation and helpful information.
Lori Sterling

In a few days we will have our Annual Meeting. It’s on January 22nd at 7:00 pm at
Treasurer
Mark Snead the usual location, 620 SE 9th Street. Please try to find the time to join us. We will be
treasurer@riovistaonline.com having a very special presentation. In early 2023 the city was the recipient of a
grant to study the architecture of some of the neighborhoods. This study is called an
BOARD MEMBERS Architectural Resource Survey and Rio Vista was selected to be a part of the study.
Nancy Messing Brand Toward the end of 2023 I received the results of the study and found it to be very
Evan Jaxtheimer interesting and thought it should be shared with the neighborhood.
Alex Jean
William (Bill) Kirk The board extended an invitation to Trisha Logan, AICP, Principal Urban Planner and
Fred Stresau Historic Preservation Board Liaison, who will be presenting the outcome of that research.
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT You will undoubtedly know some of the homes that were selected for the study. You
Christina Currie may even live in one! See the photos on the next page.
COUNSEL TO THE BOARD Plans for 2024 include bringing back the Auto Show and Carti Gras (a Mardi Gras-
Charles Tatelbaum themed golf cart parade.) Carti Gras is scheduled for February 10th, to finish with a
movie in the park and a very special New Orleans-themed food truck. There is a QR
code with details/registration in the promotional ad following on page 10.
We will continue with our very popular Native Orchid Program and will be having
our first ever Halloween Home Decorating contest! Of course, we will also continue
with our Movies in the Park and our very popular Rio Vista Holiday Party.
Our plan to continue with the City of Fort Lauderdale GYR (Green Your Routine)
program has finally come together. We earn points for projects and those points are
redeemed for money to be used on future projects and events! Stay tuned for more on
this in our emails and social media communications.
We have some other ideas in the works, but we really need some volunteers to move
the ideas forward. Let me know if you can give us a bit of your time.
