City Commission Approves 2021 City Commission Priorities
The City Commission approved our 2021 City Commission Priorities that were
identified and outlined during the Annual Commission Prioritization Workshop held
on Friday, January 29. The top priorities for 2021 are: Homelessness and Housing
Opportunities, Infrastructure, Transportation and Traffic, Waterway Quality,
Resiliency, and Parks and Public Places. Additional priorities are: Uptown Master
Plan South, Airport Workforce Training Opportunities, Safety, Smart Growth, and
COVID-19 Recovery. The annual City Commission Priorities are an important
component of the City’s future planning as they advance the goals and objectives

City Commission Discusses Film Permitting at
City Conference Meeting
At the February 16, 2021 City Commission Conference meeting, I raised our
concern that there have been problems over the past several weeks regarding film
City Hall, 8th Floor
100 N Andrews Ave crews filming around District 4, particularly in the Rio Vista neighborhood, and how
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311
it is impacting traffic, neighborhood accessibility, and quality of life for residents.
While it is fantastic that our beautiful city is an attractive destination for filmmakers;
we must ensure that we are creating policy that welcomes film crews, while taking
the safety and needs of our neighbors into account. As your Commissioner, I
requested that the City look at the film permitting process and place it on the
agenda for discussion at an upcoming City Commission Conference meeting.
