RVCA President’s Message
hank you to the Rio Vista Civic Association member household representatives
who attended the April 29, 2019 RVCA General Meeting. For anyone who
Twas unable to attend our guests included Sarah Hannah-Spurlock, our City’s
Nighttime Economy Manager. We also learned about Imagine Broward which is a
new community of influencers supporting people experiencing homelessness through
service and advocacy in collaboration with Broward Partnership. Per our by-laws
we do not have General Meetings during the summer months but please keep in
mind our Board will still be meeting monthly to continue our volunteer work.
Speaking of the RVCA Board, we have been keeping busy lately. In February we
heard from representatives for the 629 Residences, participated in Cordova
Stakeholders meetings, and discussed the future path of our Board- at length. In
March we met with Ben Sorensen and gave feedback on a handful of possible EMS
Substation locations in close proximity to us. We also met with Heslop Daley from
Christina Currie, Esq. Transportation & Mobility to work together to increase the safety of the intersection
President on Ponce/9th. Ella Parker gave an informative presentation to the Board on the
Downtown Master Plan Updates and we shared feedback. We had some fun in
OFFICERS April sponsoring the Concours d'Rio Vista. Also in April, we spent the morning of
Fort Lauderdale Cares Day with old and new friends collecting donations for
President
Christina Currie, Esq. Broward Partnership & local little libraries.

The Board has received complaints from residents regarding “vacation rentals” this
Vice President Spring Break season. We have reported the complaints and code cases have been
TBD
opened to obtain compliance with the requirements of The Vacation Rental
Treasurer Registration Program which regulates vacation rentals as defined in Section
Mark Snead 509.242 of the Florida Statutes (2015). If you are the owner of a “vacation rental”
treasurer@riovistaonline.com
please be aware that it needs to be registered with the City. If you are a neighbor
Secretary experiencing noise/disturbances at a “vacation rental” you should report the
Fred Stresau
stresau@bellsouth.net activity to FLPD’s non-emergency number, 954-764-HELP, file a police report, and
ask for the case number. I’d suggest emailing the case # along with any other
BOARD MEMBERS questions, comments, concerns to: vacationrentals@fortlauderdale.gov.
