Julie Hough RVCA Engaging Residents
jbethhough@gmail.com
This year we have come up with some new ways of engaging with Rio Vista
Treasurer residents. Thanks to everyone who attended the Florida Panther’s Block Party
Mark Snead at VY Park on 4/28/22. A special thanks to the Florida Panther’s leadership
treasurer@riovistaonline.com who reached out to partner with the RVCA Board on this event. Fort Lauderdale
Cares Day took place on 4/30/22. Student volunteers in Rio Vista distributed
BOARD MEMBERS educational materials on what NOT to recycle. Additionally, other residents of
Nancy Messing Brand Rio Vista joined the River Oaks Civic Association in helping an elderly
Julie Hough homeowner with yard clean-up she was unable to do on her own. Looking to the
summer and early fall months, we continue to seek volunteers to help RVCA be a
William (Bill) Kirk
participant in the Million Orchid Project. Movies in the parks will be happening
Sam Koster periodically as well.
Jean-Jacques Rajter
Fred Stresau Transportation and Traffic Headaches
As long as the complaints keep coming in about underage and reckless golf cart
COUNSEL TO THE BOARD use, RVCA will continue to seek enforcement from FLPD and attempt to educate
Charles Tatelbaum residents on the concerns of improper use. Our efforts towards improving the
safety of the 9th Avenue one-way are slowly making progress. New markings
and signage have been added and we are exploring additional measures. RVCA
Request for speed radar sign for area of SE 7 Street and SE 11 Avenue intersection
is pending. The discussion on the contract between the County/City regarding stop
sign placement continues. County conducted traffic studies for speed humps and
determined criteria not met in order to add speed humps on SE 11 Court between
Cordova & Federal Highway or to add them on Cordova between SE 7 Street and
SE 9 Street. We continue to obtain updates but acknowledge this is not a quick
process and the governing laws cannot be overlooked. continued pg 8
