neighborhood to live in, please refer to the below traffic and gov/government/departments-a-h/development-services/
pedestrian safety guidelines: community-enhancement-and-compliance/administrative-
services/vacation-rental-program/registration-enforcement
1) Stop Signs - When approaching a stop sign, drivers are
required to come to a complete stop (not a ‘rolling stop’)
before the marked stop line or crosswalk. If there is no marked
line or crosswalk, the stop should be made before entering
the intersection itself; drivers must also yield the right-of-way to
any pedestrians or vehicles that are already in the intersection.
(FSS 316.123)
2) Speed limit - Unless otherwise posted, the area speed
limit is 25 mph. Although there have been speed mitigation
efforts (i.e. speed humps, radar signs, etc), there continues
to be concerns of speeding. *Note* Most violators are area
residents! (FSS 316.183)
3) Pedestrians – If sidewalks are provided, pedestrians shall
not walk along/upon the roadway paved for vehicular traffic
(FSS 316.130-3)
4) If no sidewalk is available – pedestrians are to walk on
the shoulder on the left side of the roadway toward oncoming
traffic; this allows pedestrians to see oncoming vehicles.

Vacation Rentals
Throughout Rio Vista, vacation rentals have caused some
concern. Residents are often unaware of the rules and
regulations surrounding vacation rentals and/or do not
contact us or the city for enforcement. Please see below
resources as it pertains to vacation rentals:
Through the administration and enforcement of the
Vacation Rental Registration Program, the Community
Enhancement and Compliance Division ensures that
vacation rental operators are current with their State/
local licenses and tax requirements.
Vacation rentals have certain restrictions to adhere to
(number of vehicles, noise levels, etc); violations may
result in civil penalties.
