Oof District 4. Our city’s Police, Fire and Emergency Operations were
immediately activated and over 600 residents were evacuated that night alone. My

leaders and volunteer organizations. By 5:00 am Red Cross set up a reunification

Over the next several weeks our staff, city leaders, and leaders from the civic,

Vice Mayor I could not be any prouder of how our community came together in times of
District 4 Commissioner need. (Note: to assist property owners affected by the storm, the City Commission
City of Fort Lauderdale unanimously agreed to temporarily waive permitting fees for flood related repairs).

Summer has arrived, and our team has accomplished a lot in our first 6 months.
Infrastructure has been a big priority. Our new water treatment plant will provide
clean, clear water for the community. This state-of-the-art facility will be among
the first in the county able to comply with new EPA regulation coming down.
Stormwater projects are well underway in the southern part of our city, and we are
planning for the next phases to follow.
Our city’s transportation needs are well represented, with both Mayor Trantalis and
me serving on the Broward County MPO. The 17th Street bypass road plans are
City Hall, 8th Floor moving along.
