We can almost breathe a sigh of relief as hurricane season is just about over. We
were very fortunate in Fort Lauderdale not to have the wrath of Dorian. Let’s keep
our friends in the Abacos in our thoughts and continue to provide much needed
help to rebuild those islands devastated by the storm.
November 24- 28 is another round of King Tides. Avoid going north on Cordova
thru the low spot at 11th Court during high tides.

Lauderdale Harbors With concerns for crime happening in our city, the police force is now using
citizens and technology to help fight crime. The SAFERWATCH app is now available

to be downloaded on your phone. You can now text a crime in progress, suspicious
TEAM LHIA activity that you may be hesitant to call about since you are not sure if there is a
Officers crime going on. The app also allows the police to send out alerts to you if

Another bonus to having the app is that Saferwatch is a nationwide program, so if
you travel to another area you can change the setting so that you receive alerts in

increase in crime.
• Lock your car doors.Do not leave a purse under the seat of your car.
• Put your car FOB in a closed metal case so crooks can’t hijack the signal.
• Do not load your car with holiday gifts and then go back in to do more shopping.
AHF MICRO UNITS UPDATE
Many of our residents had concerns about the large micro unit project proposed by
the Aids Health Foundation at SE 7th Street and 3rd Ave. The City attorney has
declared the project a Social Services Residential Facility and a type of facility is
not allowed in the downtown Regional Activity Center. The ruling will likely be
appealed as there are several channels to the process.
NEW EMS STATION
While fire station 8 on SE 16th Street will better serve Lauderdale Harbors, there
will still be areas at the far end of the Lauderdale Harbors Isles and most of the Rio
