Galt on planning for an install of Vigilant Solutions Fixed
License Plate Readers in Rio Vista. Locations will be
determined based on the recommendations of the vendor
and Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

As of the date of this writing, the vendor is in the process
of finalizing the estimates to provide to the representatives
at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department. As soon as the
installation estimates are made available to FLPD and the
approximate costs (initial and recurring) are fully
understood, Captain McCarthy will present the information
to the RVCA General Membership.
Here is a bit of background on the cameras. The system
features a rugged and compact dual-lens (infrared and
color) LPR camera engineered for extreme conditions. The
camera recognizes license plates in the camera’s field of
view, matches against various agency hotlists and notifies
law enforcement of matches. The system can also stream
live video to a separate location such as a video
management system.
The data obtained by the Cameras would be managed by
law enforcement…not the Rio Vista Civic Association. If a
vehicle of interest enters Rio Vista the system will alert
FLPD. Alerts will aid FLPD in identifying
stolen vehicles. Data obtained will
provide FLPD more information for
criminal investigations. FLPD will
have the ability to customize the
system.
