RVCA President’s Message
he next Rio Vista General Meeting will be held via Zoom on November 30,
2020 at 7:30PM. All members RVCA members are urged to attend the
Tvirtual meeting; we are not able to take official action without a quorum.
Virtual meeting access details will be shared with members via email. Commissioner
Ben Sorensen will be attending to provide local updates. In addition, we will have
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Daniel Oatmeyer give us some updates
on recent accomplishments which will improve response times.
Rio Vista has had nearly one year of service from Dr. JJ Rajter, Julie Hough, and
Lori Sterling. Please plan on attending the meeting so the General Membership can
make their Board roles official! Thank you!
RVCA Board of Directors Nominating Committee Established
As mandated by the RVCA by-laws, a Nominating Committee has been formed
Christina Currie, Esq. consisting of myself, William Kirk, and Mark Snead. RVCA Board membership is
President open to current fully paid to-date members of record of the association, who are
registered voters in Broward County and full-time residents and owners of a
OFFICERS residential property within the Rio Vista subdivision. If you are interested in becoming
President a member of the RVCA Board of Directors, please contact any Board member.

I’m pleased to report that the installation of ADA ramps has been completed on
BOARD MEMBERS SE 9th Avenue at SE 7th Street and near VY Park. Hopefully, by the time this
publication hits your mailbox, “No Thru Trucks” signs will be installed at designated

locations. Also, still on the way are: a radar speed sign near VY Park/Ponce, a

traffic study on 11th Court, and exploration of design changes at 12th/Cordova
William (Bill) Kirk area. I continue to have monthly discussions with Transportation and Mobility

Tarpon River Remediation
COUNSEL TO THE BOARD As you know, our neighborhood is still recovering from the December 2019 sewer
Charles Tatelbaum main breaks which resulted in 35.4 million gallons of sewage discharge into
Hector Park and 77.57 million gallons into Virginia Young Park. On October 20,
2020 during the Fort Lauderdale City Commission conference agenda meeting,
an overview was given with regard to the “Amended Consent Order and Reports
on Water Quality Assessment in Tarpon River and George English Lake”. The
amended consent order was related to sewer main breaks beginning on
December 10, 2019.
