RVCA President’s Message
2021 RVCA Wrap-Up
Rio Vista Civic Association’s volunteer Board of Directors is wrapping up another year of
neighborhood advocacy. Below are some highlights from our efforts in 2021. We hope this
encourages you to get more involved in the work RVCA is doing to benefit our wonderful
neighborhood. Whether you want to be involved every month, make a financial contribution,
or participate in special events, we would like to find a way to engage with you.
License Plate Reader (LPR) Cameras
Fundraising efforts were a success for LPR Cameras. RVCA facilitated the purchase and
install of two cameras which are linked to the FLPD real time crime center sending police
alerts of vehicles passing the cameras which have been identified as “of interest” to law
enforcement. Only FLPD will be able to access/obtain data captured by the camera and
the data will be used to solve crimes in multiple jurisdictions. Additionally, we were able
to partner with our LHIA neighbors in Lauderdale Harbors for the purchase and install of
Christina Currie, Esq. a 3rd camera which should be up and operational soon. We are confident that pairing
President the LPR Cameras with our Protect Rio Vista Program will increase safety in our community.

Fred Stresau Although we have not had any in-person events in Rio Vista this year, we have taken a

with neighboring associations by having joint charity events, meet-ups at City arranged
events in our area, and collaborating on City matters that will jointly benefit our
neighborhoods. Our collaborating with Tarpon River Civic Association and Downtown
Fort Lauderdale Civic Association resulted in minimum residential unit size in the
Downtown RAC, adding high end art to Hardy Park and record setting donation drives.
