RVCA President’s Message
Hello Neighbors,
ur neighborhood takes Halloween seriously — and we went all out this year!
We kicked things off with our first-ever Costume Parade in the park, featuring
Ocostumed kids and pets. Our adorable Pup Parade Marshal, Mars, led the fun
before the evening transitioned into Movie in the Park night, featuring Monster House.
A huge thank-you to Halo Grill Station, Razzleberry’s Ice Cream, and Barkery and
Brew for keeping everyone happily fed, and to our dedicated board members Luci
Mazza, Ryan Lehrer, Evan Jaxtheimer and Mark Snead, whose hard work make these
events possible.
Our Second Annual Halloween House Decorating Contest was another big success!
Winners have been announced via social media and email. A big shout-out to Press
and Grind Café for donating all the prizes for this year’s contest!
Looking ahead, be sure to save the date for our Holiday Party on December 6th,
which promises to be a festive evening! More details can be found on page 12.
We’ll also be collecting new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items to
support the Food Pantry of Broward and the Kids In Distress. Your generosity will help
bring holiday cheer to local families in need.
A heartfelt thank-you to our sponsors: Michele and Chuck West Jr., Joe DiMaggio
Children’s Hospital, YMCA of South Florida, Primo Liquors and Fine Wines and Long
& Jean, P.A., for their generous support of our holiday party.
And don’t forget — RVCA hosts a Winterfest Boat Parade Watch Party on December
13th at Abreu Place! Let’s all thank board member Nancy Messing for her continued
efforts to bring our community together during the holidays.
Community Updates
Membership renewals are approaching, and I can’t emphasize enough the
importance of supporting the RVCA combined membership and patrol program — it’s
truly the smartest $600 you can spend for your home and neighborhood’s safety.
We’ve also launched a supplemental patrol program to provide additional coverage
for the Isles and Cordova Road. Contact me for more information on that, or better yet,
come to our meeting this November 17th to hear more about it. Details on page 14.
Upcoming RVCA Events
• November 17th – Last General Meeting of the Year, 7PM at 620 SE 9th Street
• December 6th – RVCA Holiday Celebration in VY Park, 6–9PM
• December 13th – Winterfest Boat Parade Watch Party at Abreu Place, starting at 6PM
A final note on e-bikes. All cyclists must comply with state and municipal laws
pertaining to bicycles. They are not permitted in the parks!
Wishing all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a joyous holiday season!
Warm regards,
Lori Sterling
