The Landings Residential Association

he Landings Residential Association, Inc., your homeowners association as
recognized by the City of Fort Lauderdale, will have a new President,
T Mr. Mike Watson. Let us welcome him and his new team. You may remember

As your past president for a second time, having served in 1999 and 2000, I want
to thank you for your support of crime control initiatives. We have proven, from
community response, that we will ultimately have to adopt a community crime
camera system connected to the law enforcement database like the camera system
in use at Lighthouse Point, a canal community similar to ours. Only then will we
have the photographic evidence we need to show when vehicles and pedestrians
entered the community to commit the crime. From those photographs, which
immediately alert law enforcement, we will be able to more likely catch criminals in
the act or at least have car registration leads that may result in an arrest.

The Lighthouse Point crime camera system has been a success as reported in many

newspaper articles over the years. It is time The Landings, one of Fort Lauderdale’s

premier communities, had the same City-sponsored system. Two million dollars were
budgeted for crime cameras by the City in 2014.
