President's Message
The Landings Residential Association
Greetings Landings residents.
sn’t it great to live in The Landings! I have lived here since 1988 and have had
the privilege of meeting some great people over the years including neighbors,
Iother residents and even members of the Bridge when we had the Landings Boat
Club a few years back. It is always good to meet new people and neighbors. An
excellent opportunity to do just that is to attend one of the “meet and greet”
receptions we occasionally have at a resident’s home. Our last “meet and greet”
was just a few weeks ago at the home of Dave and Diane Dodich. This may have
been the best and most attended reception we have had. The food and libations
were great and so was the conversation and fellowship. If you weren’t in
attendance you missed a great evening. Thank you Dave and Diane. The next
reception has not yet been scheduled. We will let you know when it is and we
hope to see you there.
You may have noticed that our flags have not been flying since last hurricane
season. We have been delayed in getting the flags up because we are working on
improving the appearance of the flags and the surrounding areas. Ronnie Dennis is
Mike Watson, President working with the city to upgrade the appearance of the flags and the surrounding
Landings Residential Association landscape to include improved lighting and greenery. We will get the flags back
up as soon as we can. We just need to be patient because we are working with
the city on this. I am sure everyone will be pleased with the improved appearance

when this project is completed.
President There is one misconception about The Landings that I have heard even some board
Mike Watson members mention that I would like to clear up. The Landings is a unique island
wizardwats@msn.com community similar to the Las Olas Isles and Bay Colony. You cannot get to most
properties in The Landings without going over a bridge. Every home in The
Vice President Landings is a waterfront home. The homes west of the bridge on 55th street are not
Diane Dodich in The Landings. The homes north of 59th Street on the west side of Bayview Drive
are not in The Landings, they are in Lake Estates. This misconception recently
Secretary resulted in an appraisal on my home for a mortgage refinance being understated
Dana Mullaney by approximately $100,000. The appraiser’s description of the neighborhood was
from Bay Colony Road to the north, Intercoastal Waterway to the east, Federal
Treasurer Highway to the west and Sunrise Boulevard to the south. That area includes high
Robert Korn rise apartments and commercial businesses. As a result two of the four comparable
properties were in Lake Estates, not The Landings. Perhaps when we get the security
gates installed this misconception will be corrected.
