President's Message

                                The Landings Residential Association

                                         Security and Safety
lthough crime in The Landings is usually not as bad as many other places in
the county it seems that it may be creeping closer and closer to us. Recently
A a home at the corner of NE 55th Street and NE 26th Avenue was broken
into while the owners were away. The vandals entered from the canal side and
smashed through the cabana door. Before they broke in they were able to remove
                                         the security camera outside.
The scary part is that the homeowners returned from dinner just as it was
happening and scared them away. The homeowner saw the police at a neighbor’s
home the next day and found out that another home on the street had also been
burglarized, possibly by the same people.

In addition to those break-ins the Bank of America branch at the corner of Federal
Highway and 62nd Street was robbed recently.
We are still working on security measures for The Landings. Hopefully we will be
able to get them approved in the near future. In the meantime we suggest that you
try to put your security cameras in a place that will be difficult to remove. We also
Mike Watson, President suggest you get a Ring or compatible doorbell and download the Fort Lauderdale
Landings Residential Association Police Department application so it broadcasts directly to the police department.
You can learn how to do that at their website, www.flpd.org/ring. You can also
call their 24 hour customer service center at 954-828-8000.
