President’s Message
he holiday season is upon us once again and I’m delighted to reflect on this
past year in The Landings. Many of our part-time residents are making their
Tway back to town and it’s been wonderful to see familiar faces returning.
Looking ahead, we’re especially excited for one of the highlights of our season —
our Christmas party — which for the first time will be held at Pomodoro Restaurant.
This new venue is a fun change for the neighborhood and we hope you will join us
as we celebrate the holidays together. Please be sure to mark your calendars for
December 15th.
In recent months we have had productive conversations with several city
departments about upcoming projects that will impact and enhance our community.
Representatives from Parks & Recreation shared updates on landscape improvements
slated for early 2026, including upgrades along Bayview Drive and enhancements
to community medians and entrance plantings. These improvements will further
elevate the beauty and character of our neighborhood.
We also continued our dialogue with the Public Works Department regarding long-
term infrastructure planning, including the city’s responsiveness to drainage and
roadway maintenance. The department’s new leadership has expressed a renewed
commitment to working more closely with neighborhoods like ours, and we will
keep you informed as discussions progress particularly around future design work,
road improvements, and bridge-related safety considerations.
Another important focus this season has been our LPR (License Plate Recognition)
Camera Program. As many of you know, our LPR committee has devoted countless
hours advocating for a clear and fair process for neighborhoods wishing to gift
their systems to the city. Although recent developments have been disappointing,
we remain committed to ongoing conversations with the Commissioner, City
Manager, and Police Department. We believe strongly in the value these systems
bring to both public safety and the city’s broader law enforcement efforts, and we
will continue pushing for a resolution that acknowledges that contribution.
For more details on the above issues, see Tom Brinkley’s Community Updates
on page 16.
A friendly reminder to all residents: membership dues are vital to supporting our
community and its many initiatives. Please submit your dues as soon as possible
and no later than January 31. Your contributions make everything we do possible;
from organizing events to maintaining the beauty and functionality of our shared
spaces. We are also looking for board members and committee volunteers for
2026. If you have interest in getting more involved, we would greatly welcome
your participation.
As we close out the year, I want to thank each of you for your involvement and
commitment to The Landings. This is a special neighborhood, made so by the
people who care deeply about preserving and improving it. I look forward to
seeing many of you at Pomodoro for our holiday celebration and wish you and
your families a warm, joyful season ahead.
Warm regards,
Helena Cooper
