I want to start by saying THANK YOU!!!
For what you may ask?

hank you for showing your love and support of your police department at the
polls on March 12. Thank you for understanding the need to have a safe,
Thurricane rated facility, equipped with energy efficient features and modern
technology so we can operate an effective and efficient law enforcement agency
that other agencies can only attempt to emulate. Thank you for understanding the
need to consider long term cost savings by minimizing the leases of other
properties that will no longer be necessary as well as reducing the countless dollars
spent on keeping your current facility operational. Lastly, thank you for
understanding the need for your police headquarters to reflect the quality of your
police department and the folks who work here.
I would also like to take a moment to brag about the quality of your new police
Rick Maglione officers and extend the credit to our Recruiting Team, the Background Investigations
Chief of Police Unit, the Training Unit and the Field Training Officers who have all went above and
beyond during this campaign. We just graduated seven more cadets from the
Broward College Institute of Public Safety Police Academy on March 14, 2019, and I
think they are a shining example of the fine women and men who will be protecting
the City for years to come. A number of our cadets also held class offices and earned
numerous prestigious awards:
• Honor Medallion – Cadet R. Bouchelle
• Physical Fitness Award – Cadet J. Hoffman
• Firearms Proficiency Award – Cadet I. Peña
• Frankie Shivers Award – Cadet M. Sandelier
• Academy Class 321 President – Cadet A. Williams
• Academy Class 321 Treasurer – Cadet Q. Wright
• Academy Class 321 Company Commander – Cadet R. Bouchelle

• Academic Award – Cadet R. Bouchelle
We only have a handful of police officer
vacancies remaining and have many in
various stages of training preparing to hit the
streets. So what does that mean for our
neighbors? It means we will be more
responsive. We will be more visible. We will
be able to fill the vacancies in our specialty
units that will allow us to provide those extra services that help reduce crime and build
