I am writing this on Monday before the election. You are reading this after the
election. I sincerely hope everyone voted. We, the Irish Americans, Latin
Americans, Black Americans, LGBTQ Americans, Native Americans, Italian
Americans, White Americans, Asian Americans …the one thing that we all have in
common is that we are all Americans.
I hope we can now work together to solve our issues and make America better for all.
The Metroplex Airport study has listened to us. The FAA is now recommending
extending departure turn point approximately .6 miles farther out over the water
from runway 10L. This will keep departures on the runway heading longer,
preventing early turns and reducing noise in our neighborhood.
For our neighbors west of the airport, the FAA is recommending extending the
departure point farther West. FAA says the new location will keep westbound
departures on the runway heading for just over 1.5 miles prior to any turn to the
northwest. This will prevent early turns and reduce noise in our western
Ed Rebholz neighborhoods.
President,
Lauderdale Harbors I would like to introduce our Treasurer, Bonnie Rogers.
Improvement Association Bonnie’s aunt & uncle were original homeowners in
lauderdaleharbors@gmail.com Lauderdale Harbors in 1954. In 1956 Bonnie and her
family were visiting from NJ and the house across the
TEAM LHIA street was for sale. Here’s the rest of the story as
Officers related to us by Bonnie:
Vice-President “We bought that house and moved here in 1956.

I grew up here and attended grammar school at

Chelsea Krebs

Treasurer
Bonnie Rogers School, Broward Jr. College and received a Bachelor
of Education from the University of Florida. I spent my
career in Information Technology as a system developer/analyst/programmer and
Welcome Committee
retired a few years ago.”
Chair
Linda Brand “In the 1960s, my mother was secretary of Lauderdale Harbors and my father was
the nominating committee. Once I retired and no longer worked all the time and had
traveled, I decided it was my turn to volunteer with Lauderdale Harbors and to get
involved with the neighborhood. I was also teaching computer classes at the Main
Library and hope to resume doing that at some point. With the pandemic, I miss
going to the movies and meeting friends for lunch and dinner. I love to read, watch
movies, enjoy the sunshine, ride my bike and getting to know my neighbors.”
Thank you, Bonnie!
