As we see our city modernize and powerlines thankfully
grounded in several throughfare areas, our city’s beautiful
neighborhoods are still neglected and littered with horrendous
utility poles. Every official I talk to has said that it’s up to each
neighborhood to take care of. This is outrageous! We pay 10’s
of thousands of dollars in property taxes each year plus an
undergrounding fee on our FPL bill. Meanwhile, we still must put
up with these eyesores wherever we look and not be informed
as to when we can expect the undergrounding throughout the
city. This is unacceptable!
On a security note…our LPR Cameras! We want to thank all of
you who made the annual camera contribution 2024. The funds
are used for general maintenance, connectivity, service, and
insurance for these cameras. Eventually for the replacement
of the hardware and cameras, as well. You all should have
received the letter in the mail and I urge all Landings, Lake
Estates and Bay Colony residents to join in the efforts as we are
all benefiting from these. The cameras are monitored and
utilized by the FLPD and have assisted in solving crime in our
area. Currently, we are in discussions with the FLPD regarding
our gifting of eight cameras to the city in exchange for their
commitment to maintain and continue the LPR camera in the
Landings going forward. We have also discussed this gifting
with our commissioner.
We now have 168 members in the Association, and we
are thrilled to have so many people interested in committee
involvement. The Board work does take up time but is vital to
our neighborhood. It has been my aim to streamline things in
such a way that the workload doesn’t fall on just a few worker
bees. Our board is dynamic and energized and we would be
happy to get more of our residents involved.
Our board has discussed planting orchids on the trees in the
medians and this year we are planning to kickstart this as a
Fort Lauderdale Cares Day project for The Landings. This will
take place on the 26th of April, and we will send out an email
blast as we get closer to the date with further information. This
will be a fun way to get together as neighbors and make our
community even more beautiful!
I look forward to another productive and fun year together in
the neighborhood!
