Fort Lauderdale Vice-Mayor and District 1
Commissioner Heather Moraitis
- Patrick Lynn will start as the new Chief of Police
in April.
- Ms. Moraitis continues to work for local
communities to be able to regulate vacation
rental homes in their own community.
- A No Smoking ban in city parks and beaches
has passed.
- A 20-acre city park with fields, gaming room,
splash park, dog area and skateboard course
will be built on the property of the former
Lockhart Stadium.
Broward County Vice-Mayor Lamar Fisher
- The county is currently working on increasing
the number of affordable housing units for county
service workers.
- The penny tax surcharge yielded over $1B that
is being allocated to communities to improve bus
transportation, roads and other municipal
projects.
- Fort Lauderdale airport processed 28M
passengers this past year, down from an
all-time high.
- An 8K-foot people-mover connecting disparate
areas of the airport, Port Everglades and Tri-Rail
is in the planning and funding stages.
- Disney has signed a 15-year lease with
Port Everglades.
- Beach renourishment and beautification
continues to be a priority.
State Representative Chip LaMarca
- The state budget for the upcoming year is
$112.1B. Included in the budget is money for
Broward County housing, beach restoration, art
and cultural funding.
- Special project appropriations include marine
research, local drainage issues and parks and
museum support.
- Mr. LaMarca supports local regulation of
vacation rental properties.
Association Treasurer Jeff Stich reported:

2021 total income $10,482.79
2021 total expenses $1,784.73
Year-end balance $24,139.30
Tim Hernandez requested a motion from the
Board to accept the 2020 Annual Meeting
