Jerry and Suzee Bailey
third grade and relocated to Las Olas in 2012. This is truly
our favorite place. The beach is beautiful, Downtown is
always hustling and bustling, and we love how you can
come home to the Isles where it is peaceful and quiet.
What other small geographical location offers that
juxtaposition? People are so friendly and fun to work with.
We met more people living here our first year than we did
our whole time living west.
Suzee – After law school, our son, Justin, had a chance to
take a job elsewhere, but we are very excited that he has
accepted an offer here with Wicker Smith!
What is life like for you both now?
Suzee – We both work and are also very involved in the
local community. As HOA President, I am focusing on the
Jerry Bailey is regarded as one of the world's greatest safety concerns of our residents, adding more crosswalks
jockeys of all time. He won the Triple Crown twice, scored
a record five wins in the Breeders' Cup Classic, and is the
only jockey to win America's Eclipse Award for
Outstanding Jockey seven times. He is an NBC Sports
thoroughbred racing analyst and a retired American Hall
of Fame jockey.
His beautiful and charismatic wife, Suzee, is a former
SportsChannel reporter and works part time doing
commercial work and voiceovers. She currently serves the
local community as President of the Nurmi Isles HOA and
is actively involved in numerous organizations.
When this duo is not representing you at City Commission
meetings or volunteering their time, one can find them
walking or biking along the Boulevard or boating or paddle-
boarding on the water. These former snowbirds proudly call
Downtown Fort Lauderdale their full-time home and are
passionate about making the community the best it can be!
What led you to move to Fort Lauderdale?
Jerry – We maintained a home here seasonally until
2001. We moved to Davie full-time when our son was in
