lauderdaleharbors@gmail.com The road will be raised, and cross walks will be put at each corner. In
addition, a sidewalk to nowhere will be added in front of the Lauderdale
Harbors monument sign. This is a necessary requirement for the crosswalks to be
implemented. This will require lane closures and patience from our residents. One
TEAM LHIA lane should always remain open.
Additionally, work will begin in late May on the Mercedes River bridge on
A1A/17th Street. It is the small bridge to the east of Pier 66. Project improvements
include removing and replacing the existing pile cap protection system for forty-
OFFICERS four pile foundations. Again, this will require lane closures with a narrowing to
Vice-President one lane each way.
Aimara Sage Work also begins on the widening of Eisenhower Blvd at SE 20th Street at the end
Secretary of this year. This is the beginning of the bypass road work that is still in its design
John Calabrese phase. The original route had to be altered bit when a 60-inch water pipe not on
Treasurer the port drawing documents was found. Actual construction of the bypass road will
Bonnie Rogers begin at the end of 2023 and should be completed around the same time as the
hotel in 2025.
Board Members The Convention Center Hotel will still be 29 stories. The ground level will be raised
Pam Barlow so that it is 5-7 feet above mean sea level. A new addition to the plans will be a
Anna Carpenter separate building out near the water on the east side of the property that will have
65,000 square feet of ballroom space. This will be in a plaza area with a
Larry Casey promenade walkway that will be open to the public. The walkway will continue
Tom Collins from the current area under the 17th Street bridge. There will be an open area of
Christina Deushle green space on the property that can be rented and used as a performance area.
Barbara Magill The walkways will be wide enough for festival booths to be set up. Only acoustic
music will be allowed outside. There will also be two different types of restaurants in
Shannon O’Brien the area near the water with some outdoor seating. Here is a link to the future of the
