George Mihaiu, President & Publisher

George Mihaiu (pronounced Me-high) is president and founder of Fort Lauderdale Media Associates, Inc., and personally directs all the company’s projects and publications. With 30+ years of award-winning, international custom publishing experience for clients such as the Port of Los Angeles, Port of Miami, Port Everglades, the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and Broward Health, he brings extensive publishing, marketing and business development expertise to FLMA publications. Since selling his former port publishing company to a major maritime industry publisher in 2006 (and taking a 2-yr sabbatical), he’s turned to local Fort Lauderdale publishing projects and serves as publisher for a number of Fort Lauderdale HOAs, civic and business associations. Beginning in 2008, he transformed the Rio Vista Civic Association’s neighborhood newsletter into a full-color, magazine-style publication. The upgrade to magazine-style and design proved hugely successful and George was quickly sought out by other high-profile, east Fort Lauderdale neighborhood associations to produce official neighborhood magazines for their neighborhoods. In 2015, George created LAS OLAS BOULEVARD & ISLES MAGAZINE and partnered with the Las Olas Association to publish the only magazine in Fort Lauderdale exclusively showcasing Las Olas Boulevard’s world-class downtown, Las Olas Boulevard and Isles business and residential area. It has since become the official magazine of the LOA and one of the fastest growing magazines in Fort Lauderdale over the past several years. Aside from his publishing pursuits, George has long had a keen interest in Fort Lauderdale city affairs and served as a member of the city’s Economic Development Advisory Board from 2011-2014. He frequently interacts with City officials and staff on the many civic issues and takes great pride in having seen and participated in the dynamic growth of Fort Lauderdale’s business community and the sustainability efforts of its residential neighborhoods.
